Teacher License Areas

In Ohio, licensure areas are divided into the following categories: pre-kindergarten through the fifth grade, 4th-9th grade, 7th-12th grade, and pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

Ohio State students can complete the required MEd content courses using their chosen undergraduate major. For licensure in Integrated Social Studies, Integrated Language Arts, Mathematics Education, Science Education or World Language Education, consider speaking with an undergraduate advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences to discuss the best option for a major. For licensure in Early Childhood Education or Middle Childhood Education, consider speaking with an undergraduate advisor in Education and Human Ecology
