Educational Policy Student Bios
I am an Educational Policy student with a background in museums, the arts, and nonprofits. I am interested in the intersection between creativity and resilience in education.
My interests include interdisciplinary (law, social work, education, policy etc.) work focused on children impacted by the foster care system, specifically regarding education.
My research interests focus on K-12 reform, specifically interventions that improve students’ academic and behavioral performance.
I am interested in the topics of democratic education, LGBTQ+ student rights, and educational equity.
My academic research centers around the pillars of education, equity, and policy at the intersection of democracy and justice in education. I have specific interest in the impact of legislation, past and present, on Black educators. My other research passion is criminal legal system reform, which I advocate for through a podcast alongside my partner.
My research involves understanding the experience of Mozambican adolescent girls in non-formal (national and international) education programs. When I am not “PhD-ing” I lift weights and dance in my free time.
I am interested in the ways that policy, praxis, and power intersect, interact, and impact access and equity in K-12 arts education.
