Graduate Hooding Ceremony


About the Ceremony: This is a formal ceremony recognizing the college’s Summer 2025, Autumn 2025, and Spring 2026 graduates. The ceremony will feature a keynote address, student award presentations and bestowing of hoods. An informal reception will be held after the ceremony with light appetizers.

Date: Wed, May 6, 2026

Time: 5 - 7 p.m. ceremony; 7 - 8 p.m. reception with light appetizers.

Who: College of Education and Human Ecology master's, specialist and doctoral graduates from Summer 2025, Autumn 2025 and Spring 2026.

Where: Mershon Auditorium, 1871 N. High St.

Parking: Self-parking is available at the Ohio Union South Parking Garage at 1759 N High St., just south of Mershon Auditorium. There also is metered parking in the High St. area.

Seating: This is a non-ticketed event. Guest seating is general admission on a first-come, first-serve basis. Doors will open at 4pm for guests. Please expect to go through a security screening and bag check at the door.

Accessibility:

  • This event will be live captioned.
  • Main floor accessible seating is available in the rear of the auditorium for guests with mobility-based needs and up to three companions per current ADA standards.
  • Please contact Mershon Auditorium at accessibility@wexarts.org or 614-688-3890 for accommodation assistance.

Attire: Business professional attire is appropriate. For graduates, regalia is required.

Note: This celebration is different from the university's commencement on May 10, 2026. EHE's Graduate Hooding Ceremony is planned by the college and is more personalized to this student population. All students will be hooded on stage at EHE Graduate Hooding Ceremony and students will receive their diploma at the university's commencement.

Undergraduate Graduation Open House

Graduates and their families are invited to celebrate graduation at the EHE Undergraduate Graduation Open House.


When: Friday, May 8, 2026

Time: Afternoon, time still to be determined

Where: PAES Lobby, 305 Annie and John Glenn Ave.

Who: Summer 2025, Autumn 2025, and Spring 2026 graduates and guests

Attire: Buckeye gear/casual

Activities: Photo opportunities, food, games, giveaways and more!

Registration: Required. A link will sent by email to graduates.

Yes, regalia is required. It can be ordered through Ohio State's Barnes and Noble Bookstore. There are deadlines for ordering.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
PhD degree graduates wear a scarlet robe with gray accents on the sleeves and a velvet panel down the front. The hood PhD graduates receive is royal blue on one side and red/scarlet underneath. The cap is called a doctoral tam. It has a gray tassel.
 
Doctor of Education (EdD)
EdD degree graduates wear a scarlet robe with gray accents on the sleeves and a velvet panel down the front. The hood EdD graduates receive is light blue on one side and red/scarlet underneath. The cap is called a doctoral tam. It has a gray tassel.

Educational Specialist (EdS)
EdS degree graduates wear a black robe with a light blue velvet stole highlighted with scarlet fabric underneath. The graduate also wears a mortarboard with a black tassel.
 
Master of Arts (MA)
MA degree graduates wear a black robe with a white velvet stole highlighted with scarlet fabric underneath. The graduate also wears a mortarboard with a black tassel.
 
Master of Education (MEd)
MEd degree graduates wear a black robe with a light blue velvet stole highlighted with scarlet fabric underneath. The graduate also wears a mortarboard with a black tassel.

Master of Learning Technologies (MLT)
MLT degree graduates wear a black robe with a light blue velvet stole highlighted with scarlet fabric underneath. The graduate also wears a mortarboard with a black tassel.
 
Master of Science (MS)
MEd degree graduates wear a black robe with a gold velvet stole highlighted with scarlet fabric underneath. The graduate also wears a mortarboard with a black tassel.
 
Master of Sports Coaching (MSPCOACH)
MEd degree graduates wear a black robe with a peacock blue velvet stole highlighted with scarlet fabric underneath. The graduate also wears a mortarboard with a black tassel.
